• The Spescom DataFusion Learnership Programme
Spescom DataFusion is participating in a “Learnership Programme” aimed at providing training and valuable work experience for previously disadvantaged individuals.
The initiative takes the form of a three way agreement between Spescom DataFusion, Bytes Technology Group People Solutions, and ISETT SETA – the Sector Education and Training Authority.
Four learners from historically disadvantaged communities who met the criteria for application (which includes a minimum education requirement of a Higher National Diploma from a Technikon and/or University of Technology in South Africa) passed through the course in 2008.
In 2009, the programme was extended to accommodate existing employees of the division in order to provide these members of staff with the opportunity to improve their skills. Twelve employees entered the programme, which entailed six months of theoretical training (75% on company time with the remaining 25% being sacrificed from personal time).
Technology subjects covered include: systems development/ programming, contact centre support and systems support engineering.
